How to sponsor a child, she is one of my dependent. Good Morning,i have some questions regarding my dependent,me and my common law had a mistake.We wrote not accompanying in our application since then we have a big regret. Now that my common law is here in Canada, we want her to be with us. The child is 11 years old. How can we sponsor her? Are we going to send the sponsorship application in our country Philippine Embassy or here in Canada Immigration. What are needed? Is it the same requirement before? Am i going to send her passport with the application? Thank You very much for your time. |

I think you will have to ask an Immigration lawyer who practices in Canada. That would get you to some one who could answer a lot of questions immediately, and then guide you through the procedure. If it's like the US, it should be simpler to bring her in before she's 18 years old. From what I've heard, Canada is now a little easier than the US for immigration. Your daughter will have to go to the American embassy probably in Manila. Again, if it's like the US procedure. But you, also, will have to file papers in Canada with the Immigration Bureau in Canada, promising to support your daughter, and giving all proof, including her passport. I would think that her passport eventually would have to be sent back to her in the Philippines, of course, before she comes over to Canada.
