In legal terms "without prejudice" is a cancelation of a ruling that allows for re-filing of the action in the future. With prejudice is a cancelation that is final and no option to refile.

Both my son and I went to the US Embassy this morning to renew our US visa but after the interview I got my visa renewed and my son was told that he was not qualified for a US visa at this time which I found to be strange as he is underage and is attending to school. Cancelled without prejudice was stamped on the expired visa. Can you please explain to me what is meant by "cancelled without prejudice"? Thanks

Both my son and I went to the Us Embassy to renewed out US visa but after the interview I got my visa renewed and my son was told that he was not qualified for a US visa at this time which I found to be very strange as he is 17 years old and still in school. Cancelled without prejudice was stamped on the expired visa. Can you please explain to me what is meant by Cancelled without prejudice? I was told that I can reapply 6 months time, what can i do to get through next time.

Answer 6/6 - Submitted 3/6/2011

The cancelled without prejudice stamp means that the particular VISA has something wrong with it, but has nothing to do with the individual. The VISA might have a mistake or be a duplicate. This designation doesn't mean anything negative or mean that the person can't apply again.
